African American Skin - Natural Solutions For Common Problems
Solving Your Skin Care Problems With Natural Ingredients For Radiant, Luxurious Skin
African Americans need to go beyond the makeup counter and drug store for skin care remedies. While many of the products are effective, there are gentler options for African American skin. Dark skin not only contains more melanin, but it is also more sensitive than other types of skin.
One of the most common problems with African American skin is the development of acne. While this is not exclusive to dark skin, scarring and discolorations that are left behind can make the problem more glaring. The best way combat this is to use an African American skin care routine that will keep your skin very clean.
African American skin care works well with natural, organic products. Many of the soaps available commercially contain synthetic ingredients that can aggravate the acne. Dark skin will also reveal reactions to artificial products through discoloration, which is more apparent in African American skin.
Some of the best organic cleansers for African American skin are those that contain shea butter and lactic acids. Also, avoid using hair oils and products that run onto your skin because this is a major reason for blemishes on African Americans. Regular cleansing and alleviating breakouts with tea tree oil can help improve your skin.
Another common problem in African American skin is the development of razor bumps. These are difficult and painful because of the risk for infection. Razor bumps occur when cut hairs curl back and pierce the skin to cause unsightly bumps. The best natural remedy for razor bumps is to simply stop shaving altogether. However, this is not always practical, especially for women.
A natural African American skin care solution would be to make a paste of strawberries and sour cream and apply it to the affected area. While it might work for you, strawberries and sour cream sounds like a much nicer dish for eating. Products that contain moisturizers and exfoliating materials can do the trick in getting rid of razor bumps.

Gentle Exfoliation For An Even Skin Tone
Many African Americans suffer from a discolored and uneven skin tone. Even the small events such as an allergic reaction can cause splotches, which can either be darker or lighter than the usual color, to appear on the skin.
Gentle exfoliation is the best remedy for this situation. Look for natural ingredient such as oatmeal and honey that can be used on your face. Honey is a wonderful moisturizer for dry skin. Another option to slough off the discoloration is to use a facial mask that contains Vitamin C and Green Clay. This combination is especially good for oily skin.
Understanding that your skin is sensitive to certain products as well as the sun, look for ingredients that will help you meet your challenges. You can have radiant, smooth and luxurious skin, the natural way.

These ideas make a lot of sense. In fact, I'd say that no matter what skin pigmentation a person has, it's a good idea to use natural ingredients such as tea tree oil, honey, and oatmeal. Of course, each person's skin is a little different, but natural is almost always better than synthetic. Thanks for the great hub!
